whirlwind.

Wow. It has been a whirlwind these last few weeks. I know that I have not been blogging well at all! We have had weddings and shoots in Gulf Shores, Huntsville, and Chattanooga in less than two weeks. We have slept in 4 different hotels during that time as well as had a ton of family and friends in town over this past weekend. And I am heading back out of town tomorrow! We knew spring would hit like this but it is still hard to catch up...

We were so honored to have our dearest friends and family in town for a baby shower over the weekend. We still can't believe that they were celebrating us! It all feels pretty surreal especially as we have no idea how long our wait will continue to last. Our sweet, sweet friends and family threw the shower for us and it really surpassed any possible expectation. I wish I had pictures to show but for once, we were on the other side of the camera! I will try to post something soon. For now, here are some shots from our impromptu session hanging out in our front yard.

Salem is walking around like such a big girl!

Little Isaac is three months old already! And, finally, some proof that I don't work ALL the time. This was one of the most fun weekends I have had in the longest time.

Blog post script: Casey came through with some great pictures from the shower! Here is one of Corey and me. Also a fun one of the diaper changing relay. Thanks, Aunt Casey!

spring wedding

We had a super fun time photographing Randi and Jason's wedding earlier this month. The weather was perfect and the church was beautiful. Also, the wedding party was awesome and we had a lot of time to take some really fun pictures in the alley behind the church. We have learned how much you really do need your wedding party when it comes to pictures, especially the bridesmaids. It is clear these two have great friends who really love them.

The flowers were gorgeous and done by Anna at the Leaf & Petal. I should also thank another florist in town who helped us with some much needed directions. Thanks, Michelle!

Such a sweet flower girl...
I love this bouquet shot that Corey captured. They were really going for it!

cute as they come...

Seriously, do they get any cuter than this? Ethan was just one of those easy as they come to photograph kiddos. The way that grin spreads across his face makes you just want to eat him up! We took these pictures a few weeks ago on a day that seemed doomed weather-wise. It turned out to be a gorgeous spring day and the company could not have been better!

back.

we are back from shooting a wedding down at the beach. we were able to spend a couple of fabulous days in destin before the wedding festivities began. we are learning the hard way to always plan the vacation days AFTER the work days rather than the other way around. still, it was a great few days. the wedding was incredibly beautiful and we had a blast meeting so many fun people and making new friends. i've got a TON to post so look for those this week...

wish i had some pictures of our trip to post! as usual, i've got nothing except pictures of other people!

chasing...

How does this happen? When I met Leah and Darin (which feels like yesterday), it was the day after they got engaged. I think that was 1999. Now they have the three cutest boys ever. We are so grateful for Darin and Leah's friendship and their consistency in our lives over the past nine years. I loved chasing after their boys last week!

that's what it's all about...

Annabelle is pure delight. Can't you tell by this smile? I wish I could have bottled her laughter and played it over and over with these pictures. And as if the polka-dotted skirt isn't cute enough, it actually PLAYS THE HOKEY-POKEY. And she dances to it and it's the cutest thing you will ever see.

from the vault...

I happened upon these pictures from a couple of months ago today. I forgot how much fun this session was. This was our first in-home session with more than one kiddo and we had a blast. I came upon the slideshow today and wanted to share it. It's not your normal show but I think it works for them.

april showers...

We knew we were chancing it when we decided to go ahead and have this shoot. There was buzz about thunderstorms coming but the trusty weather blog said we had until noon before the rain would start. They were mostly right but about 15 minutes in, we felt the sprinkles change to huge raindrops within seconds. Still, between rain showers, I had so much fun seeing Anna Kathryn again and seeing how much she's changed in the months since I've seen her.

I love this pink sweater and hat! The bright colors were really fun to photograph.

growing...

You might remember these sweet girls from a session we did before Christmas. Their little sister arrived a few weeks ago and I was so excited to get to meet the newest addition to the family. I love this picture of the girls with Kayden. Really and truly, they are two of the sweetest and most joyful girls I have ever photographed. After we did some shots with them outside, they played upstairs together; throughout the shoot, we could hear them laughing and enjoying one another. Being in their home was a blessing to me. I am looking forward to seeing these sisters grow up alongside one another.

Speaking of growing families, I haven't updated in a while about our adoption. There is really no news to report other than that we are still waiting. I don't know why I'm surprised but I always am by how supported and encouraged we've been by people we know and don't know. We are so grateful.

not your everyday...

I have so much I want to post but so much to do! Spring is kicking in and things are starting to get crazy around here. Enjoy these family shots from our trip to Memphis recently. We had so much fun meeting this family. As Corey observed, there is just so much life in them!

wisteria and wanderings

I know I've been heavy on the wedding and engagement posts lately but trust me, there are a lot of kiddo shoots to come this week. I just finished this show and couldn't stand not posting a little sneak peek on here. I had the best time wandering around Montevallo with Jenna and Garrett last week. They are just so cute and totally in love. I do have to say that the highlight of the shoot for me was hearing all of Garrett's fun facts about the university from his days as a campus tour guide. I was also psyched that the wisteria was blooming in front of one of the dorms...I still can't believe that actually happened! We can't wait for their wedding this summer.

recent wedding. early favorites.

More to come but it's the best I can do on a stormy Friday when I've had to keep my computer unplugged for half of the day! The other half I spent chasing a precious and busy one-year-old in unpredictable rain showers! Today has not gone as planned but I'm still waiting for one of those days to happen... happy weekend everyone!

Memphis adventures...

Three guesses as to where these pictures were taken. We did this shoot in Memphis while we were in town for Easter. This is my friend, Daniel, and his gorgeous wife-to-be, Amy. For weeks, I had all my Memphis peeps on the scene to try to come up with a cool place for their engagement shoot and a couple of other family shoots that day. I suggested downtown for the Memphis-y scene but Amy really wanted green and pretty. The gardens apparently charge some mega-photographer fees and it seems that everyone in Memphis has the same suggestion for pictures: the local cemetary. (I have to admit that this is also the same spot that Corey and I had our engagement pictures made.) It is, apparently, the place to be if you're either a) dead or b) having your pictures made in Memphis on a Saturday morning. We found a field way in the back (apparently, they are leaving some room to grow into...) as well as some other random spots that actually turned out to be awesome places for pictures. I have to say it was our first photo shoot behind a dumpster in the back of a funeral home but Amy and Daniel were great sports about it all. Thanks for trusting us, guys!
